Statement on the Collapsed Congressional Negotiations for Police Reform

September 30, 2021

CEO Action for Racial Equity appreciates the time and efforts of federal lawmakers over the past six months to reach agreement on meaningful police reform, but we are deeply disappointed with the collapse of the bipartisan negotiations. We firmly believe that increasing transparency and accountability in policing is a critical step in helping make our communities safer and addressing systemic racism.

As a fellowship of corporations with employees across the nation, we are committed to continuing to advocate for meaningful police reform that enhances accountability and transparency within the law enforcement profession at state and federal levels. While 2020 was a year of reckoning for our country, we cannot lose momentum.
