Statement on Congressional Approval of The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

November 7, 2021

November 5, 2021 marked a key milestone toward closing the Digital Divide for millions of disconnected Americans, including 16 million Black Americans who lack access to high-speed internet.

The passage of The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in the U.S. House advances a racially equitable approach to internet access, affordability, and adoption. CEO Action for Racial Equity celebrates this historic commitment of $65 billion that will provide grants for infrastructure deployment to both underserved and unserved communities, benefits for low-income users, and encourages digital literacy programs.

We look forward to the President signing this critical legislation into law, and we urge the Biden Administration to move swiftly in funding and programming to close the Digital Divide.
