Health disparities exist among Black Americans, regardless of socioeconomic status, due to policies shaped by societal structural racism that created or perpetuated Social Determinants of Health inequities—the factors that contribute to our living and work environments and our ability to survive and thrive. But, it doesn’t have to be this way. For every gap, there is a potential opportunity. We can support the most vulnerable in our communities by addressing the policy issues driving these inequities—issues that our entire society can benefit from eliminating.
